GIS Training Workshop for MSF

May 04 - 08, 2015, Kampala (Uganda)

At a dedicated GIS training in Kampala employees from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) got first-hand information from CartONG and Z_GIS. Z_GIS representatives Stefan Lang and Petra Füreder described the EO-based information services developed by Z_GIS and applied for MSF. For Z_GIS the workshop was also a valuable opportunity to discuss the information needs of MSF and get insights from people working in the field.

Special Session EO4Hum @ GI_Forum 2015

July 8, 2015 | 13:00 - 18:30, Salzburg, Austria

Z_GIS is organising a special session on EO-based support of Humanitarian Operations (EO4Hum) within the GI_Forum 2015. The session will focus on the potential of Earth observation (EO) data and technologies to support humanitarian action in crisis and disaster response.
A large variety of different optical and radar sensor types provide data at all kinds of spatial, temporal and spectral resolution applicable for many different humanitarian disaster scenarios. Turning data into relevant geospatial information products for humanitarian actors is one challenge which will be addressed.
